The 411's Tips and Tricks For Starting the New Semester
After having a few weeks off from school, getting back into the swing of things is never easy. We have gathered a few tips and tricks that we have learned along the way that helped us transition back into the school grind. Whether it is high school, college, or you're trying to get a jumpstart on the new year, we hope these are helpful!
Buy a new planner- We are planner fanatics, are you surprised? Nothing better than a fresh planner to start the new year, and the new semester. It helps relieve new semester anxiety by planning for important dates and writing them down in your new planner.
Clean/re-organize your backpack- Clear out your backpack from last semester's mess and reorganize it. Load up on new notebooks, pens, and pencils to prepare you for the semester.
Grocery shop- Prepare meals and snacks for your week in school. Planning your meals allows you to make healthier decisions, especially when you are on the go!
Rest- Start off your semester well-rested. Go to bed early, and start your semester off strong. We all know the feeling of being worn out by midterm so it is important to get the rest while you can. Try and get at least 7- 8 hours of sleep.
Read your syllabus/ buy your books- Read over your syllabus to know what to expect from a class before you walk into your Monday 8 am without a clue of what is going on. We know that in most cases you will not need to buy the book for your class but you will have an idea after reading your syllabus. We recommend renting off Amazon or Chegg to save lots of money on a book you will not need after the semester.
Make workouts part of your routine - School can be stressful, life can be stressful in general and working out is always helped me balance and maintain my stress. Not only is it so important for your body but it is a time to clear your head or let out some emotions. We plan our workout outs every week just like going to class.
Eat breakfast - They don't say breakfast is the most important meal of the day for no reason. Start your day off with a meal that is good for you! It is hard to pay attention on an empty stomach. We usually make a simple smoothie (banana, almond milk, spinach, honey, and ice) or eggs with avocado toast.
Declutter your closet - We both LOVE clothes so as the new semester begins we make it a point to give away or donate the clothes we don't wear anymore. This also helps you get organized.
Clean out your fridge and pantry - This is important to get rid of all of the old stuff and replace it with new items! This can kick start a new goal for the new year. This will also help you meal prep.
Some daily to-dos include: make your bed, drink lots of water, set good intentions and try and make time to get a workout in, listen to a podcast, read a book, and most importantly, be a boss babe. BRB while we take our own advice and get a jumpstart on the new busy semester.
