Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm 27 Years old and New Hampshire born and raised! I went to UNH and graduated with my Bachelors in Communications & Associates in Restaurant Management. After college, life took quite a few turns and I wound up becoming an aesthetician and makeup artist, another passion of mine. I met my boyfriend on the Cape & haven't left since. I found another passion within indoor cycling at B/SPOKE Studios where I am now a certified instructor! I love the shmorgishborg of careers I have. It makes life so fun and interesting. When I'm not painting faces or on the bike, you can find me with the other man in my life, my golden retriever, Hardy. I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter, hip hop, chocolate almonds, and Sarah Jessica Parker!
Tell us about your blog, Wavelengths.
Wavelengths was created during Covid-19, which quite frankly couldn't have worked out better. I wanted a space where I could organize all things fitness, diet, wellness, inspiration, creativity, and a place where people can feel safe to communicate on topics & use their voice for the better. Recipes, blogs, and motivation are a few of the weekly posts you can expect! The turn out & feedback from the account was so much more than I'd anticipated.
What inspired/motivated your healthy lifestyle?
I suffered from an eating disorder off and on in earlier years. I knew I loved cooking and fitness, but I struggled with doing it for the right reasons and in the right way. B/SPOKE was an amazing and healing aspect in my recovery. Here you can find a community where everyone supports one another & is there to better themselves. I also grew a passion for Veganism during quarantine where I had plenty of time to do my research and discover a new side to myself and what I wanted for my body, mind, and soul.
What is your biggest tip on starting a healthy lifestyle?
The "Why" behind a healthy lifestyle is key. Getting in the habit of asking yourself why you make certain choices and for WHO is so important. Nowadays it’s so easy to get caught up in social media, trends, and unrealistic expectations.
You stick to a vegan diet. What does a day of eating usually look like for you?
Veganism was a fairly easy transition. I always loved to experiment with foods and truly enjoy protein substitutions. Fun fact, we don't actually receive protein from the animal itself. The protein comes from the plants ingested BY the animal. So ultimately, why kill other life on this earth for our benefit when we can consume what we need in a much safer, healthier, and easier way? In the morning I love to make PB&J rice cakes with sliced banana on top. You'll get your fats, protein, fiber, and carbs in to start your morning. Lunch is usually leftovers from the previous evenings dinner, or I’ll make a tempeh sandwich. Protein smoothies are always an easy meal supplement with some fun crunchy granola on top! Dinner is always the best. Black bean tacos, yummy salads, or lentil pasta are my go-to!
We are looking to be more conscious of the products we are using. What are steps to take if you are interested in transitioning into an eco-friendly/non-toxic household?
Over quarantine I also got a nice reality check with all the chemicals I used/consumed in my everyday life. I wanted a clean sweep and to press the reset button. I switched my shampoos, detergents, household cleaners like Windex, bleach, and dish soaps. You name it, I got rid of it. Switching household products is easy and super cost effective. Vinegar, Dr. Bronners soaps, and essential oils became my best friends. Switching over my shampoo & conditioner also allowed my hair to do some Rapunzel magic overnight. I've gained about 4 inches in the past few months which typically is unheard of for a blonde!
You are becoming a R/DE instructor at B/SPOKE Studios. What is your favorite part of this process?
Becoming an instructor at B/SPOKE is hands down one of my most memorable and proud accomplishments. I remember 3 years ago my mom told me I could be an instructor if I wanted to. I looked at her like she had 3 heads and had zero confidence in myself that it could ever be possible. Look where we are now! My favorite part of this process has been becoming a part of something so much bigger than just a workout class. The community is what makes B/SPOKE what it is. The friends & experiences I've gained will be cherished forever.
What is your favorite workout clothes brand?
Gymshark & Cotton On Body
Along with your healthy and active lifestyle, you are also a makeup artist. What are your favorite beauty products you would recommend?
CLN & DRTY Skincare is my go-to for that "fresh face" feel. I wouldn't say I have a favorite beauty product, there's too much to choose from! However, I love Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow palettes.
If you could give someone one beauty tip, what would it be?
If it makes you feel good, rock it.
Do you have any tips for people starting a business?
Have conversations and step outside of your comfort zone, word of mouth spreads like wildfire.
Clearly, you are always so busy doing so much! What do you do when you feel stressed or overwhelmed?
Coaches NEED coaches. This is my mantra for 2020. Taking time to yourself, taking REST DAYS, and knowing WHEN to stop is so important.
Who is your favorite account to follow on Instagram?
Anything related to Sharks. I’m a BIIIIIGG shark advocate. Oh, and Sarah Jessica Parker. (lol!)
What is your all time favorite quote?
"Life is all about moments of impact." -The Vow
